Frame reinforcement does less than you think it does. The biggest contribution to impact mitigation is always suspension. A "mid travel lite" truck like the Raptor has a lot more time to absorb impact force compared to a standard 1/2 ton. You'll also see stock frame '98 reg cab rangers with beams huck jumps that were only possible on bikes before side by sides came along.
Slap some big boy resis on it with a great UCA and you'll be a lot more capable than you think. The "mid travel lite" 1/2 ton isn't a special or new concept, Ford was just ballsy enough to give you all of this with a warranty.
