Has anyone tried to use the low–level inputs to the factory Sony amp and go straight to the CleanSweep? It seems if there are the standard left and right, front and rear full frequency outputs, this would be the most efficient route to go. One could then remove the factory amp (save weight and power) and not use a summing device. I would think that taking two components out of the signal path would also reduce distortion to some degree also.

Quoting from the CleanSweep manual: “it accepts virtually any analog audio signal, from low-voltage line-level to high-power, amplified speaker-level, via its four differential-balanced inputs. With totally automatic level compensation, the CL441dsp converts the two or four connected analog signals to digital audio with 24 bit effective resolution.”

here, on frf
i think this was just asked earlier too. i dont know if there are the proper signals going into the amp. i havent been able to check, but if you have 4 input signals and a ground it should be possible. the cleansweep and summing device work better with speaker level inputs though. i have tried this before. with the higher power signal from the speaker signal, i noticed more output than with the low level input. however it was not in our trucks but a different car, i would assume it would be the same or similiar results.

Yes, I wondered about that too. See my post here, second from the bottom:

If I ever have the time, I will investigate further. For now, I am satisfied with using the speaker level wires going to the cleansweep.

Hey! I'm new around here and here is what I have setup.

Front highs and rear doors in the JL summing devices then into the cleansweep. Then I use the JL cleansweep addon RCA to get a 3rd RCA for my sub. So 2 RCAs to my 4 channel Alpine amp and then the addon RCA with gain goes to my PPI sub amp. It sounds very nice. I do get some engine noise at zero volume but it goes away once the volume increases.

So I contacted JL tech support. The tech I talked to recommended the CL-SSI summing device and CL441dsp CleanSweep with a CL-LSA to prevent ground problems and for ease of reinstallation of the stock system. But he also couldn't say how removing the stock amp and going strait to the CleanSweep would work since they have never tried it. I will play with the install first thing when I get my Truck (Dec or Jan) and see how it behaves.

And what's up Busa? not a movie fan? ;)
