I am getting tired of all the issues I have had with my Dec 2017 built 2018 Raptor. Cam Phasers, Transmission shifting, Plastic oil pan, Valve covers, squeaky leaf springs and who knows what else. My GEN1 had 185k with no issues ever. I do a lot of off-roading and have a few Jeep owner say “I can’t believe you would bring that up here.” I need a vehicle I can trust and am thinking about trading for a 2020 if they have the issues resolved, if not, I am probably going to a modified Tundra. Really disappointed in this Ford but I do love it.

2020 is supposed to have updated cam phasers. Ford is supposedly releasing a TSB about cam phasers in Q4 2019. Not sure if late build 2019's got the updated parts or not.

My info comes from other posts here on the forum about this.

Plastic oil pans were gone in 2018.

I saw the update on the Cam Phasers, have they actually got new parts now? Do you know the build date for the change on the 2020?
Unfortunately I got one of the last plastic oil pans.
I love the Raptor and would like to stick with it, not a big fan of the Tundra’s appearance.

My 2018 has the plastic pan. I would not lose sleep over this. I just had a metal oil pan replaced on one of my Nissan NV 3/4 tons. Schmitt happens.

Can't you just buy the metal oil pan from Ford and swap it out? Messy project but doable?

Already replaced one plastic oil pan, dealer replaced with another plastic pan. I purchased a metal oil pan for the next time I get a leak in the replacement plastic pan.

Dont think 2020's are much different. Can still have issues. Seems to be luck of the draw. My 2017 has been bullet proof. I think you just got a bad one. Seems to happen with Ford

Do not think swapping oil pans a real option. But my plastic pan has been thru many oil changes and has never leaked

Plastic pans were gone for trucks built in 2018. I have a 2018 built in Aug 2017 - plastic pan. :(

No cam phaser issues yet - and hopefully not in the future
