Ipad to replace 2013 SYNC MFT?

I have seen several videos of people replacing their radio with an ipad mini.
However, I haven't seen any that can replace the SYNC/MFT in a 2013 or 2014 model?
Has anyone done this? If so, I am wondering how they control the functions that are only available on the touch screen and don't have buttons. Such as cooled/heated seats.

i have seen a 13+ f150 with ipad installed but you need to jailbreak it to even use your rear view camera
its not worth the hassle, you lose a lot of functions.
