It's weird. Some brands will stack layers to get the hard protection but then also have a layer that is supposed to get you that freshly waxed look and sometimes they are will have three different formulas stacked on top of eachother that all provide different benefits. Just really depends on the brand. Some are an all in one product and some require multiple layers. The brands that usually have multiple coats of different formulas usually have a badass warranty to go along with it. 5 years, 10 years or lifetime or whatever the detailer wants to warranty it for. Lots of variables.
