So I've been holding off on purchasing an LED bar till after the holidays and such. Found one today on a Facebook group I'm in. He states that it is a Rigid, doesn't seem like he knew too much about the lights but if it is real, it will be a steal!

Now, I've never seen one of these in person.

My question is, how do I spot a fake? I've done some searching but couldn't find out if "Rigid Industries" or the Model number are printed on the body of the lights itself? He's pretty slow on responding today- but I think it's because it is the New Years. Going to meet up with him tomorrow but would like to know what to look for in an authentic RI 20" light-

"RI" printed on body?
Model number?

Here are some pics he has sent me. And if I'm not mistaken, it will fit in front bumper wouldn't it? (2013 Rapter SCrew)

Doesn't look like a rigid to me. They usually have screw's around the lens frame....probably an older knockoff or maybe its a much older rigid model

Thanks. I was having some doubts about it and wanted to check. Glad I did. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt on maybe it's an older LED.. Since he said it was a Rigid.

It's good to ask questions before buying.

Rigid Industries has typically ID'd their light bars with their name on the front of the ends like this 20" light bar (says, "RIGID USA"):

I don't see that on the light bar in the pics you posted. Based on your question I assume you don't see any information (part number, made in China, etc.) on the light bar anywhere, correct?

It's possible it could be an older model. You could always call Rigid and talk to them and get their help. I am skeptical that it's a Rigid product.

^What they said^ Like they said, even an older version would have some indentifying markings on it. The one in the picture has screws holding each group of 4 lenses onto the bar which tells me it's made in China. If that's the case it's worth approximately $120 new. Good luck.

Here is a picture of a 24" bar made in China which shows the screws/allen bolts holding the lenses on:

Definitely not a Rigid, not even trying to be a knock off. Just some cheap Asian junk with no warranty.

Thanks for all of your input. I pointed all of this out to him and he has yet to respond! Y'all are quick! Saved me from a headache of even just a drive down to meet him.

Nope, not a Rigid

It's funny how I can tell a Rigid or a knockoff literally within half a second now. Crazy what working with lights does to you hahaha
