I used nightshades spray on my rear tailight of my motorcycle. It has been on now for 4 years and still looks great. I did not use clearcoat on it. My bike is set up with a wide tire kit so the road debrie and "burnout debrie" hits the light directly. Thanks for all the info I am going for the tailights and 3rd brake tonight, however this time I will be useing a clear of some sort after the tint.

Just remember you lose the 3 LED clearance lights that are built into the Raptor third if you go aftermarket. These are DOT clearance lights (same as the lights on the front of your grill and the LEDs on your fenders). I like the look of the LEDs in the third.

just found this SMOKED LED 3rd Brake Lights
09-12 Ford Raptor & F150
RCN-264111BK

With all the leaking issues I've read about........I, like you, am surprised there isn't just a tinted replacement lense - without having to go to a complete replacement of the light assembly.

3rd brake light VHTnightshades how to?

Is there any good write up on this mod? I know it's pretty easy to do but I want to make sure I do it right the first time. Some people use clear coat while others do not...?

Step bu step pictures would be nice.

Use clear so it doesn't fade. And the circle stickers for the brake LEDs. I used plastidip with a flat clear coat so I could peal it off if I ever wanted too

When you take it off, make sure you don't lose the two retaining clips. One of mine came off and I didn't even realize it until I went to put it back on. Luckily it didn't fall in the rear cab wall.

Painting is straight forward. Clean, dry, hit it with a hairdryer to get rid of any residual water or dust. Lot's of light coats. I would recommend at least 3. One can will do the
3rd light and both tails.
