Hey all!

After 5 or 6 years of drooling over all of your Raptors, I can proudly say I'm an owner of a Tuxedo Black 2012 SCrew Raptor. I'm coming from a 2012 Trail Teams FJ Cruiser and can already tell this thing is way more capable. I've been a spectator of this forum for years and have only recently felt the need to join as I'm now in the owners club.

I do have one question though. My trucks front suspension pieces have a thick coating of black on them. I can scrape it off with my finger nail, though. It only appears on the front suspension as the back looks perfectly normal. I can't tell if its just from use over time or if the previous owner had the front suspension coasted to protect it. Any one experience this black grime-like coating from use over the years or do you think its a coating?

Anyways, I'm so glad to finally be here and seeing where this truck takes me. Being in the military, I'm sure I'll go quite a few places with this thing.

Welcome to the forum @Dusty Bottoms!

Congrats on getting into a Raptor!

I would guess that the previous owner did not clean the front shocks, since it takes quite a bit of effort to clean the coils and the shock inside.

Welcome, I know a lot of use amsoil mphd or another type of coating on our frames and even shocks and springs. Keeps the corrosion down. It's starts off kinda yellow film, as time goes on and dust and dirt it can turn black.
