Well i want to be prepared for the first real snow of my life.

I'm moving to Boston at the end of the month.

How can I prepare my Raptor for the Winter?
What gear to always have?, how to prevent rust from damaging salts. Just a few tips would be appreciated.

A long heavy duty tow strap, the big yellow kind. Road flares. Gloves. Ice scraper for windshield. Thats about all I needed in the snow storm last year. And the strap was never for me, but to pull other people out. The truck is pretty rust proof stock. I cleaned mine with a high pressure hot water sprayer every few days to keep the salt from trying to eat the metal though.

have an ice scraper always handy(you think that would go without saying but yould be surprised how many people i always see with their jacket sleeve covering their hand clawing at the windows).........always give your self an extra 10 to 20 mins when going some where..........i keep a shovel in my bed in case i have my truck parked at work an gets plowed in......make sure to wash every inch of salt off your truck asap when exposed to it that crap kills.......the winter wiper blades aren't a bad idear also.....last but not least find a empty parking lot an make sure there are no concert parking stops an let er rip an have fun .....safely of course

Be careful in parking lots! If the lines are covered up, take two spots! I have seen a lot of people slide while turning into a spot.

So true, lol.

And just for rubbing in affect, I get ready for winter by practicing rolling the window down, 'cause the 70's are beautiful:005:

Ugh - really not looking forward to winter but over the past week a couple leaves started changing colors. In addition to the great tips above, I noticed my rap has wheel weights on the outside of the rim. I'll be having my tires remounted with internal weights to prevent corrosion on my rims. Salt sucks!

Boston is a great city but, it sucks in the winter. Be careful on the narrow streets and the low clearance parking garages. Remember that people forget how to drive in the snow and act like fools during the first couple of storms. You should be alright in your truck but watch out for the other guy.

I'm not sure what you have for rubber, I've heard only good things about the stock BFG's in the snow. I picked mine up in April so I can't speak first hand to this. In addition to what others have said, you could also have some sand on hand for traction.

As for rust: wash it frequently. Especially the under side and the front end, road salt will destroy your hood. I have bought 4 can of Amsoil HD Metal Protector but, have yet to find time to apply it. Here is a wright up on it.

Good luck, TheJoker
