Sure am glad I didn't start a Ford Ranger thread yesterday...
So, Ford and Mazda have announced a $350 million JV to build the next-gen Ford Ranger (code named T6) and its Mazda counterpart, the BT-50, in Thailand for the world markets except here in the US and Canada starting in the middle of next year.
Ford will sell two Rangers - the US-built version and a Thai-built version that only shares a name. The new Ranger T6 will be built on a single, globally shared platform that's being designed in Australia.
But will it come to the US?
And why is Ford giving up on producing the Ranger here in the US? Why don't they update the Ranger they have now? There are many reasons but it's not good for the US to see the truck's design and production leave for other countries.
