Hey new to this forum and huge Raptor fan! Just got mine in So Cal two weeks... fully loaded... all black... it's SICK! But this type of truck should have balls when it comes to stereo and IT DOES NOT. DOn't get me wrong, it sounds good. But I paid through the roof for this sucker and good isn't good enough. I work w/ music and i'm a big time METAL guy and when I crank up SiriusXM Octane or Liquid Metal or even CDS it's like there is limiter acting inside and keeping volume from going high. Sounds like it's forcing parts of songs to be lower in volume. Don't understand why this is the case. My 2014 GMC Acadia Denali had better stereo volume and output than this one does?? Is there something computer based that Ford dudes can alter? OR do I need to upgrade speakers and add amp? Not sure as I've never done this before, especially w a NEW truck. Thanks for any help you can be! LONG LIVE METAL!

My 700w 2013 raptor premium stereo suffered. Ford is way behind with their sound systems and the top of the line I think is comparable to other trucks base systems. It isnt a bad fix though. I changed my door speakers to JBL and added 2 Memphis subs to get the power back to my music and it now gets loud and is very clear. I didn't even put an amp on my door speakers and they are much better than stock.

The Sony speakers are low in quality compared to other Sony speakers. Ford is to blame here.

I can understand some quality concerns but full volume is more than enough to hurt my ears. Maybe there is a max volume set under sound settings that isn't letting it all the way up?

nothing you can do except upgrade it. ford puts in a lot of restrictions with the audio system. everyone says the sony system is a pos, which it is, but its not entirely sonys fault. although sony is not known for their high end equipment (really non existent) they do make great budget equipment. however ford makes certain parameters that sony has to follow in order to keep their contract. unfortunately the sound quality and output are compromised. no matter who ford contracted for the audio system, im guessing it would be very similiar to what it is now. there are some options available and if you are interested, let me know

Do you think the B&O, optional in the '18 150, will be neutered as well?

yes. ford does not want to warranty any audio related problems so they make it almost impossible to damage the audio system. even at max volume
