Help with forscan initial set up

Well, I didn’t get too far. First thing I’m doing, is trying to back up all my Factory settings. I followed the

And when I hit the connection icon on the lower left, it starts by trying to locate a WiFi single when I have a hard connection. Anyone can assist with trying to get Forscan to use my hard connection? I figured it would read automatically.

Surface Pro's are known to have connectivity issues with the ELM adapters. But before we give up on the hardware, let's see if we can fix the issue.

1. Do you have the latest drivers downloaded and installed for the ELM adapter? The latest drivers can be found here: https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

2. If you do have the latest drivers installed, go to the Device Manager on your laptop and find the ELM connector (usually found in the 'Ports' section). Manually delete the drivers and then reinstall the latest drivers.

3. I would also try to mess around with the physical USB connection. Pull the USB cord out a little bit while also listening to the chime that sounds when a USB device is connected. You may find that the sweet spot is not with the USB fully plugged into the port.

I use a Surface Pro and this is my issue, I have to keep the plug half in/half out in order for the adaptor to stay connected. Once this is set, everything is fine. Good Luck!

Freaking Microsoft, stick with what you are good at. Anyway... maybe you have a Dell laptop sitting around you can try.

Wow, either the Surface Pro's or the ELM's USB isn't built to specification.

On forscan make sure your connection is set for hardline and not bluetooth

Thanks all, I was able to get past this step, but now stuck on the next step. Keeps saying I need to purchase an extended license. I’m stuck again? I was doing find going through the process to back up all the AS BUILT, but when I get to the step with the “warning” Module Configuration (AS BUILT format) and hit ok it doesn’t advance to the proper page to allow for back up (see pictures). I reread the instructions and can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’ve downloaded the free key as well.

I listed this on the Forscan thread, someone suggested I hit the steering wheel icon and see if indicates I have to do so. I have the Temporary license. Anyone else experience this issue with the temp license and had to purchase the extended licence?
