GooseTuned vs. MPT? What am I missing?

I am trying to justify the price difference between the two tuners. Is there something that I am missing?

I had a MPT 93 PR-X tune (nGauge) on my 2019 for about 3 months, until I traded for a 2020. I was really impressed with the tune, but now that I have a 2020, I have to purchase a 2020 MPT tune for $200.

If buying new, the nGuage and MPT 93 PR-X tune would run $575, and advertises gains of 155 rwhp and 177 rwtq, on a completely stock Raptor with a heat soaked engine.

The Cobb Accessport and GooseTuned Raptor Stage 1 Package w/Goose Custom TCM is $1,620 and I couldn't find the advertised gains.

Coming from LSX forced induction tuning, I was accustomed to live dyno tuning and definitely hesitant on any type of mail order tuning. I assume any mail order tuning is on the conservative side. I am having a little difficulty determining the difference between the highly recommended, but more expensive GooseTuned tune, and the MPT tune. Anyone have both or factual numbers between the two? Any have their Raptors tuned on a dyno? And, are there any worthwhile bolt on mods (CAI, etc.) that I can do along with a tune?

Nothing against Goosetuned. I don’t have their tune and I’m sure they’re great. But...there are other very reputable tuners out there for MUCH less money. Here’s just one example

$500 for the tuning device and it comes with the TCM tune as well. Now granted the tuning device that it comes with is proprietary so you won’t be able to load any other tunes, but would you really? Livernois is one of the most reputable tuners in the world so you can’t say they are some back alley fly by night outfit.

Again, nothing against goosetuned but I’m not sure you can justify the exorbant price.

BTW, I have the Livernois tune and find it to be awesome.

I remember Livernois back from my LS1 days (early 2000's) and they were always a top tuner, but I see their advertised power gains are much less (50hp / 80tq).

I don’t think you will gain enough over MPT to warrant the money spent. Use that extra money to get a nice intercooler.

I have never run a goose tune but there are a WHOLE bunch of satisfied customers so I don’t think you can go wrong with them if money is of no consequence.

Do I think you’ll tell much difference on a side by side comparison? I wouldn’t think So.

JDM I think manages the most amount of rear wheel torque I have seen as well. They are up over 500, but their tuner and such will set you back a lot more than $200.00 from MPT as well.

I haven't bought a tune (yet) for my truck but here's why I'm going w/ Goosetune when the time comes.

The level of customer support that Wyn offers is mighty impressive, between replying to FB posts, forum posts, doing actual tunes and helping customers I'm surprised he has time to eat. The tunes aren't off the shelf and he dials in the tune based off data logs as well as what mods you have (CAI/IC).

Any tuner can jack the boost up to give you whatever inflated numbers they want to advertise. There's years of happy customers and no one with a blown engine from Goosetune so I'd go that route to get a safe custom tune.

I've had a great experience with Goosetuned now twice. Once for my first tune and then an update after installing the Cobb FMIC and intake. Both times, we ran at least 4 data logs to get it right. Also, with the Cobb unit you can shut off auto stop/start and dynamic pedal control is pretty rad too. Not sure you're getting that with other devices.

I'll also throw my vote in on Goosetuned. I got mine and the customer service was amazingly fast. Always knowledgeable responses and data logging was super easy. Wyn got everything dialed in for me and took the time to get it all right. I'll pay extra any day to know that all my components are safe
