Gear indicator on the console?

Mine is a 17 and the console never lit up.

My 2018 is a January build and has the lighted console gear selector in console.

Not having the console selector light up, especially at night is randomly frustrating. I rarely would look but it looks like it should because the lettering is opaque.

The PRNDM on the console lights up on 2017's and some early 2018's but it doesn't indicate what gear it it's in. So technically it's useless but it lit up on my last 4 or 5 trucks so it drove me nuts when it didn't light up on my 2020 so I added the light on my 2020.

How hard is it to get the cover off? I was prying on it a year ago and decided not to open it for fear of breaking some clips.

It was pretty easy to take the console apart after I watched a "How To" video on Youtube.
