I just drove Alaska hwy in June and drove around the state- put about 8K mi on my new 2012 Raptor. Lots on compliments from Alaska truck owners. Igot bogus fuel reading one day early into trip. Showed 120 mi to empty, then suddenly jumped to about 37 mi to empty and dropped very fast to 17 miles left (gauge also now pointed to "E"). I pulled over, checked gas tank for leaks (none) and refueled. It took only 30 gallons, meaning I had about 6 gal in tank more than sensor indicated. During rest of trip a fill up sometimes showed 460 mi to empty and sometimes 550 mi to empty. It seems to be that the fuel sensor reads about 4-6 gal of fuel less than I actually have but not all the time. I finished trip by keeping track of miles driven and did not rely on fuel readout. BTW on this long trip I got a bit over 15.3 MPG (more than i expected).
