400 miles, no body damage and you needed a new frame? What did I miss?

someone pulled out in front of me i swerved to miss and clipped a cement fence post anchor, it did knuckle the bumper under on the drivers side a bit. But just hit on the tire and control arm. Put a 4 inch gauge in the tire, bent the rim and broke the arm. when it broke the arm it pulled it first which pulled the frame out a bit. apparently it was enough to justify replacing the frame.

i suppose its better than having a frame with a weak point in it

I just got mine back after the frame swap 3 weeks ago. Everything is all good. Very happy with the outcome. The insurance company should leave a lifetime open ticket for any future problems. Best of luck with everything

Im glad yours turned out well, i saw your thread about hittin the deer. sounds like your frame took a bigger hit than mine. That gives me more confidence it will be good when i get it back

Ive never had mine swapped but, I have swapped hundreds of frames with zero problems afterwords from small truck to CL 9000's

Same here. Haven't done any in several years, but between Ranger, Explorer/Mountaineer/Aviator, Expedition/Navigator, and F-Series vehicles, I've probably swapped close to 100 as well and never had an issue with any of them. Hopefully your tech has done a few before too. Check the bed/cab gap, check the bumper alignments, make sure all the interior trim is put back properly from where they had to access the body bolts under the carpet, check your power steering, trans, and coolant fluid levels, make sure the a/c works if it's warm enough to do so, make sure the PRNDL lever seems to be putting the truck into the proper gears at the proper detents, and just take a good overall look of the entire truck underbody.

It's definitely not warm enough to check a/c, it's 9 degrees right now. But thanks for the advice, I have never dealt with any frame issues before.

They had it all put back together Thursday but we're holding a couple days to go over everything.

AC kicks on with the defroster too. You can tell that way.

True, but that won't tell him what he's looking for. The refrigerant must be recovered before they separate the cab from the frame because the HVAC case stays with the cab and the compressor stays with the motor. He just wants to verify that they properly recharged the A/C when they put it all back together. The A/C compressor will cycle with the defrost, but it's going to cycle regardless of refrigerant charge.

Don't sweat a fram swap.. If its a good shop she will be good as new and you should be happy that they wanted to a swap rather than a repair or straighten.
