My SDHQ supports worked well. I truly believe that my truck would be bent if I didn't have them. Are they as good as a real frame or bump kit? Nope but those kits aren't $100 either. That's just not in my budget yet so for now I'm running SDHQ and am very happy..

Take a look at my pic to the left, though it was a mistake to go that big its on stock suspension and running straight as an arrow. I wouldn't go this big on purpose though lol.

If you can budget the RPG or svc kit, I'd suggest doing it right just until that money's makes it to the bank the SDHQ kit is an excellent cost effective insurance policy.

I completely understand that. But if I buy any of the bump stops kits, is that the best way to combat the problem?

It would be nice if someone, even a 12 year old wannabe from a Honda forum, would simply say, 'The bump stop kits, are the best insurance against bending your frame'

Right now, I don't know if that is the way to go, or another secret product I need to get.

The bump stop kits, are the best insurance against bending your frame.

Now you can go report to your wife that you absolutely need these to make your truck last longer.

BTW, I am 53 and only have a Honda for my 16 year old daughter. If you like, I can get her to say the same thing.

Is this the right area for me to ask about some moderate to inexpensive frame supports. I've heard that the frames can be bent on these trucks with heavy off-roading. I don't plan on any "heavy" off-roading, but I do plan on some moderate to easy business and even a few jumps. If there's some relatively inexpensive mods I can do to my truck that will help protect the frame from damage, I'm more than willing to "buy that insurance"!
Thanks all,
memheli

Just an FYI...

@Archon currently has his ICON bump kit for sale in the Garage Sale

Great kit and an even better dude to deal with!

^Thank you! No need to get your daughter involved. My 7 year old tells me how it is enough.

I've read a lot of different places and it seems that the upgraded bumpstops and associated brackets are also frame supports/strengthening members, but I've yet to read anywhere where it actually says that.

Can anyone definitively say that any of the available bump stop kits also protect the frame from the bending flaw?

our kits wraps around the the 3/4's of the frame the only part that isn't covered is the inner wall. as you can see in the pictures it is a beefy kit and worth every penny for the insurance and piece of mind!

The svc bump kit like other kits on the market are you best piece of insurance to prevent the frame from bending. As mentioned above no company can 100% say that it will keep the frame from bending because somewhere down the road you will have the guy who over drives the trucks capabilities . Each of these companies with kits on the market have extensive world wide abuse testing.

The svc adjustable bumpstop system can easily be adjusted in to tow mode, which essentially will allow the 2.5" air bumps to act like an airbag system. Increase towing and payload capacity without letting your truck squat .

With the option of king or fox bumps you have the option to have one of the lowest priced and most functional frame supports available.

Yes of course its a step in the right direction to keeping the issue from occuring, but there are other steps of course with these steps come the required boat loads of cash lol. You can upgrade to 3.0 suspension along with a bump stop kit, or you can go all out and get a linked suspension and have one hell of a rig. I guess to sum up what im saying is, with the right amount of money anything is possible i guess.

i think we should clear this up. the bent frame is not a flaw. it is us pushing the truck past its limits (and or doing something we shouldnt) that is the flaw. any bumpstop kit from our vendors will work and do its job well. but at what point does the rest of the suspension need to be upgraded? there are other factors that will need to be addressed after the bump stops are installed. better springs and shocks will make the bump stops do less work. its all relative on how you plan on using it. i have the rpg stage 2 on my truck and on sunday last week i have found the limits of what it will do. anything else and i will need more parts. plain and simple.

Like Noah stated this is not a flaw, Ford designed this truck to be an equal mix of good things, they didnt want sell a linked pre runner as a DD so they didnt design it to jump 90ft and be in the same condition it was before it left the ground.
