I'm just speculating. I haven't heard of anyone having this issue but the way secure idle is described, it seems like if the battery in the FOB was low or out you could end up being stuck somewhere. I don't know if that's ever happened but it was reason enough for me personally to skip it.

Both of our 18’s automatically lock out the shifter if the fob is not present. I checked it before I started to hook up the computer and discovered that I didn’t need to change them over to secure idle. I hear what you say about getting stuck, but that’s why they included a key built into the fob so you don’t end up stuck because your fob isn’t talking to your truck.

anyone mind telling me the values they have for ipc 720-01-01

i was getting errors when going to backup the as-built and think i may have fatfingered one of the other "x" values when disabling the seatbelt reminder.

I emailed the FORScan dev about pricing and a timeline when it will become a paid product and got permission from him to post this to all of you. I hope this puts a lot of minds at ease. Below you'll see my question and his answer:

Q: When FORScan gets out of beta and becomes a paid product, will it be a monthly fee or a flat charge for the program? Do you have any idea yet on a range that it may cost or when it will be a paid program?

A: There is no final decision about it yet, however, it will not be monthly fee for sure. Initially we planned to have free standard license + paid extended license. Extended license fee was planned to be either flat (lifelong license) or long-term (ex. 1, 3 or 5 years options - as not all of users really want to have lifelong license).

As for the cost, we thought about something like $30-50 for 5 years - lifelong license. However initially we planned to include firmware update function in the extended license. But our tests show that firmware update function has quite strict harware requirements. Although this function is quite stable already, it works fine only on J2534 adapters and some white-label ELM327 compatible devices like ELS27 (that costs almost like lower J2534), So far majority of tests on ELM327 are not successful, as china ELM327 devices (and they are all manufactured somewhere in china) is really a pain as their quality is unstable. This is some kind of conceptual problem for us, as initial idea was to "make FORScan available for everyone", so now we are looking for a solution. If we start selling Extended Licesene without firmware update function, the price will be lower than mentioned above.

Thanks. I didn't know that.

I have gone back and forth and tweaked a few settings several times: secure idle, fake engine noise, tire size calculation. So having it yourself allows gives you more flexibility. Not to mention, when new codes are found, your change is just 5 minutes away!

I agree with CSJr...just get the stuff and learn to use it.

Question for you CSJr re: the tire size calculation: I've read the spreadsheet and related links, etc. What I'm curious about, does this correct the speedometer AND the odometer? I see you have a 2017...do you get a wrench icon error on your dash? I have a 2018 and have put off swapping on winter tires 'cause I haven't dug into this last setting yet. Just want to know what to expect.

As many of you know there's a new version of FORScan coming out that will allow firmware updating (flashing). Anyways, I've been compiling a spreadsheet of each module's firmware filenames for 2015-2018 F150s. I'm looking for two volunteers: one with a 2017 802A Raptor and one with a 2018 802A Raptor who can help me and install an unpublished version of FORScan and go into the firmware screen for each module and do nothing more than email me a picture of the filenames shown on that screen for each module. I'm not asking for anyone to change a thing, just send me info that will be on the screen.

If you can help me with this please pm me. Thanks!

Edit: I already have volunteers for '17 & '18 802a

I can not say 100% if it does corrects the odometer, I haven't paid much attention to the odometer. I thought they would go hand-in-hand. So what I can say is that I would be surprised if it didn't correct the odometer as well.

I have the wrench icon on the dash. It is something that I have to put up with if I want the correct speedo ATM.

Thanks CSJr. RE: wrench... I guess it's no worse than the TPMS warning I made my kids put up with in the winter 'cause I was too cheap to get the rim sensors. haha. :)
