I ordered a Raptor and should be here next month. I asked the dealer to look into this setup and give me a quote. I have the Viper system in my wife's car and my opinion on it is "so-so".

I really like the idea of the Ford OEM and takes on the new vehicle factory warranty (only when installed by dealer and at time of new vehicle purchase). They said the Raptor definitely needs the other part, true? The quote they gave me was no discounts on the parts and what appears to be a reasonable installation charge.

Remote Access $385.71
Security System $198.57
Installation $103.00
Total $687.28

Anyone have this installed and does the overall price seem reasonable? Do you like the system? From what I can find, it's $50 per year which is cheaper than Viper, even with the 3yr pre-paid plan.

That seems a little lower than what some others have paid. If you really want it then go for it.

Hmm, only deal then would of been labor, the parts are at list. I am interested to hear from folks who have it installed though.

the viper smart start setup is $3.80 something with a 3 year plan. viper also has the smart start with gps, that is just over $5 a month with the 3 year plan. i dont think ford has gps tracking with their systems. i didnt see anything about it anywhere.

Yeah, for my wife I have the GPS version and paid the 3yr upfront to save a little. It is somewhat nice to be able to know where she is at and if it ever got stolen but not sure if needed for my raptor, not sure I want the wifey to know where I AM or care to get it back if stolen. :)

Do you have the Ford or Viper one?

Like I said, the Viper to me is "so-so" but might of been the installer shop. There is only two Viper dealers in my town and the other one is Best Buy (yeck).

Anyhoo, not really that much interested in the Viper unless the Ford one is a POS. That's why I wanted to hear from some folks that actually have the Ford one.

i have the viper setup. we are a dei preffered shop. meaning we only deal with dei products. the range is much greater than the oem system, along with the ability to add many other features to the alarm system. tailgate pin, tilt sensor, window automation, glass break sensor, etc. i have not seen the ford interface, but usually auto manufacturers are a couple years behind when it comes to electronics like this.
