I know there is a forscan tool to do the remote folding mirrors, is there just a obd2 plug that could be installed If I didn’t want to go through the program tool?

I have not seen a plug and paly solution. There might be someone in your area that can help, it is a quick entry.

Not that I have seen, but once you buy the cable the software is like $10 or something - small price IMO for the abilities in Forscan

Ok thanks. I’ll look into forscan again
Just ordered a elm327 tool. I’ll play around I guess. Does doing this void any warranty?

DO a search here and on the F150 forums - there are a lot of thoughts on this but the basic principle (as I understand it - YMMV) is unless the "mod" directly causes a failure warranty should not be affected. BUT do a search and read for yourself.

Where are you located?
Long Island. The more I think about it I'm not sure I want to do it. Unless there is a way to keep them out when locking and unlocking. My old truck I had to hold the lock button down, then they closed. I'm just worried when it snows here that they will try to fold and unfold if we get a freeze and break something. I'd like to manually be able to do it on the fob.

No manual control from the fob. Once you press lock from the fob, or touch the front door handles to lock or from the app they will auto fold as well. This is the Lincoln style folding mirrors. I think the motors for the mirrors are on a slipper clutch. I have bumped into one of mine and it easy pushed closed. So if it was froze closed. I imagine the motor would turn on and slip basically but would not be able to open the frozen mirror. Mirror stuck closed could present other problems while driving too. However there are heaters in the mirrors.

Hey OP,

So I'd recommend against it. I enabled that via forescan 18 months (dailying it for 18 months with it enabled) ago on my 2019 Raptor and they started squeaking and not sounding too good after that many open and closes. Also they loosened up some as well.

We just think their not designed for that many open/close cycles. For what it's worth, I just bought a 2020 and did all the forescan stuff last night. I did not do the mirrors this time around.

YMMV

That's great and all, but they are designed to fold in. Also, you must not ever go to 'the city' where roads are narrow as all ****. Had mine auto folding for 2.5 years now no issue.
