First time buyer - advice and opinions.

Long time lurker, first time poster. I’ve moved to Colorado from Washington and need to upgrade my current vehicle and keep getting drawn to raptors. What should I pay attention to when I go for test drives? Any advice on certain model years/generations over another? Below is the link to one I’m test driving over the weekend.

I’m not in a rush to buy but want the opinions/advice from this group.

Buying a used 2017-2020 “Jen Too” Raptor ; Some things to look for

H/T to RAPTORZIN for a great FAQ on buying a Rap. Here are some things to look for on the 2017 - 2020 model year F150 Raptors For reference 2010 - 2014: The original, first generation, “Gen 1” or Jen Juan Raptor. 2017 - 2020: The new, improved, younger, hotter sister. “Gen 2” or Jen Too...

2020 is probably the best year Jen Too in that they worked out pretty much all the early generation bugs - plastic oil pan gone, cam phasers revised. Still some things to check but otherwise a solid choice. OTOH, the live valve shocks failover to full hard, with practically zero damping when one of the connections gets hit hard, broken etc. simple repair if you have the part(s) though.

2010 Early Gen 1 with the 5.4. Low tech and reliable. No cam phaser issues and you do not have to worry about what to do with all of that extra power of the new gens. (Sarcasm) And it’s the best body style of the different Gens. (This is a fact)
