Can you not just unplug the shutter wires? Seems like I read they revert to full open?

This has been in the back of my mind to do for a while.

Shoulda just put in a new IC behind the grille while you were in there! :p
CVF IC already, just poor pic.

these are air to air IC and more air flow the better. For something that takes 2 min, why not do it.

Cool man! I heard if you just pull the plug to the motor it will set a DTC. Pulling out a few shutters takes minutes. I’m doing this next to let my new IC breath.

Educate me, what is the purpose of doing this

These trucks have shutters up front that remain closed quite a bit. To allow for aerodynamics and regulate air temps. In most cases you want continuous air flow through the IC so that cooler charge air can make more consistent power. Hence pulling out the shutters at least in front of the IC to allow this.

Even if you upgraded your IC, they still heat soak. This makes a big difference.
