So I've been wanting to get a cutout for a while now and I was looking at my exhaust today and was wondering if I could just take out the short section of my exhaust that is right before my muffler would it be the same affect as a cutout. Would this show any codes or cause any problems I know I should just get the cutout but I was just wondering about this any help would be greatly appreciated.

Basically...

It would be like a turn down at that point and you'd either have to remove the rest of the exhaust or fab up a way to support it if you planned on reconnecting it at some point.

I think you can get a cut out put in for <$300 so I'd say do it right and not **** around with having to reattach the whole exhaust system when you get tired of the sound or have to bring it in for an inpection.

Oh, and there shouldn't be any codes. The O2 sensors are upstream of where a turn down or cut out would go.

I just want to say that I appreciate you guys answering my question even if it was a dumb one. I asked the same question on the other forum as some of you may have seen and no one responded to me so thanks again.

I just ordered a cut out from race ready performance. They offer a life time warranty and had great customer service. Should be put on next weekend. That Dhm cutout that is recommended on the forum I called to order and left message about a week ago still waiting for a call back lol.

Cool, let us know how it goes. I think I'm going to go that route vs a cat back exhaust. I don't want to risk any drone...

OMG its everything I wanted. The cut out is awesome. I did a under the steering wheel mount for the switch. The switch that race ready gives you actually illuminates red it looks cool with my orange interior. I ran the wiring my self up thru the whole in the trim by the rear door no drilling which was awesome. I tapped the cigarette lighter for power. I then had a buddy at a exhaust shop weld it up. I removed the two foot section of pipe and took it to him so that he could work on it when he had free time. Cost me 205 for the cut out and 50 for the install.
