**This Baja Raptor Expedition will be strictly limited to 10 trucks**
This five (5) day four (4) night expedition will take participants through an all new pre-run course covering over 700 miles. The fully mapped course will allow thrill-seekers to see some of the most scenic sights that Baja has to offer. If driving your Raptor off-road at moderate to high speeds and pushing your truck and your driving skills to the limit is your thing, then the drifting trails of Baja are waiting to turn your knuckles white and get your blood pressure boiling!
We have planned this Raptor Expedition so that you can witness first hand what off-roading in Baja is all about. You have probably heard stories about what others have experienced, the times they have had and the things they have seen. Now it’s time to create your own memories and tell your own stories. These trails are Raptor friendly trails but we will encounter the occasional whooped out road and some off-trail excursions that will test you and your truck. Essentially, if you are one of those guys who bought your Raptor to pick up chicks - this Raptor Expedition is not for you!
Itinerary:
Day 1: Welcome To Mexico…
Our group will be meeting at the Tecate Border Crossing station (on the U.S. side) at 8:00am. Once we have had a chance to meet each other we will do a quick drivers meeting and truck prep. We will then cross the border together and stop again at the staging area where we will air down our tires and start our off-road journey across the Compadre Trail!
The Compadre Trail is a 1-1/2 lane wide trail that connects from Tecate to Highway 3. It is a semi smooth gravel base road but does have several rain ruts and uneven dirt sections. The road is used by locals and you will likely encounter some wild life. If drifting is your thing, you will be able to slide around corners and white knuckle the the high-speed straight aways but drivers must use caution and stay alert! Once the trail is safely completed by the group we will proceed into Ensenada for our first night stay at the Power Horse Ranch.
Day 2 : Rise and Grind…
The group will be departing early from Ensenada on a route that consist of a 30 mile drive on paved highway to the the trail head. Once we hit the dirt you'll be instantly greeted by a 25 mile long mountain crossing! At the apex of this trek, the amazing Pacific Ocean begins to come into view. The route proceeds down the Baja Peninsula and includes some of the most scenic off-road trails in Baja. There will be chances to stop and take pictures of the breath-taking views and several of the unique land marks along the way. From here we proceed to our destination of San Quentin where you will be treated to some authentic Baja hospitality and a freshly caught dinner at The Old Mill Hotel.
Day 3: Escape from San Quentin…
After 2 days of off-road driving through the trails of Baja, you may be feeling slightly tired. However, Day 3 is going to require the most attentiveness and control of your vehicle. We will be leaving San Quentin early and we will have a 50 mile highway drive to our next off-road destination. Still on the Pacific side of the Peninsula, this route will take us off-road just South of the small town of Cataviña and loop us around back to Highway 1. We will be sure to stop at COCO’s corner to say our hello’s before continuing our journey over to Sea of Cortez where we will be staying in Gonzaga Bay at the Alfonsinas Hotel.
Day 4: Coastin'…
A slightly more casual and laid-back day, we will head North on Highway 5 en route to San Felipe for an amazing lunch. This is an all paved road but the journey will allow you to really take in the sights of the Sea of Cortez as it meets the beautiful coast of Baja. After our quick lunch in San Felipe we will be ripping back on to the dirt of the legendary San Felipe 250 Baja race course. This will give you a chance to see and experience exactly what the racers endure during these races. After being bounced around at high speeds for a short time, we will cut off the race course and cross a dry lake bed before heading up the San Felipe washes… These will be some of the most exhilarating trails of the trip! After a short Highway drive we will encounter the wind-blown mountain roads on our way up to Mikes Sky Ranch for night 4!
Day 5: Coming Home…
After a Mikes Sky Ranch Breakfast Special, we will head down the mountain via some windy drifting roads and back over to the Compadre trail where the expedition will end in Tecate. Once every one has safely complete the route we will head back to and cross the border into the U.S. as a group.
