Door seal fix with surgical tubing

I was getting ready to order some tubing to do my truck and I realized I have no idea how much I need. Can anyone tell me how much tubing would be needed to do all four doors on a first gen screw?

I seem to remember that you'd need 90 ft.

Looking back at some previous posts, looks like people are buying a 50 ft roll, and that's all.

Just did this over the weekend. Ordered a 50ft roll of tubing for $30 shipped: https://www.ebay.com/itm/113696998008

I have a SuperCab and I measured the OEM weather strippping at 17'10" so both sides would be about 35ft. I figure a SuperCrew adds about 4' so under 40' to do a 4 door. I found the least smelliest lube in the garage and got to work.



Luckily found our 25ft electricians fish tape in the garage and I dont know how this mod would be possible without a thin straight metal line like this. Harbor Freight has one for $9:

Ran the fish through and hit the spot where the doors latch. There's a thick yellow resin type of spacer in the weather stripping which must seal the door. We cut a hole on the left and right of that yellow piece. Cut the surgical tubing to stop before and after it and reinstalled the weather stripping. Drivers side took about 30 minutes, passenger side took 5 minutes.

Definitely a 2 person job and use the lube generously! You're going to need to put a small zip tie around the tube and the end of the fish hook to pull the tubing back through. Have 1 person pull the fish while you watch and guide the zip tied end through. Otherwise you can easily poke a hole through the weather stripping both getting the fish through to start and pulling the tubing/zip tie back through. Make sure you keep it lubed up in front of the fish and where the tubing enters the weather stripping. It gets dry fast as new tubing goes in. I left mine in the sun for about 20 minutes and had no smell in the truck today

Closed the doors to see how they felt, well actually I tried to. The normal amount of push did not work the first 2 times so I slammed the door and it shut solid. Took it for a spin and they are much quieter! Definitely glad I did this mod. Still getting used to the power that I have to close the door with haha

I used clay lube for lube when I did it, worked great, smells nice and no mess or residue to deal with, plus I know it wont degrade the factory foam.

I just read through this thread and received my tubing today. Hopefully I'll get this done this weekend.

Fabulous mod! Did it over the weekend and doors are solid. Driver door is a bit tight so I might have to slightly adjust the striker for winter until the seals warm in the summer but huge difference.
