does anybody else hate the rear e-locker?

new owner here of a '10 scab raptor. had it about 2 months and i really hate the locker in the rear. I was looking at changing the diff to a true-track or locker. on rainy days like today, my truck slips around a lot, and it rains here a lot.

i miss the feel of my previous f250 and both f150 lightnings that i had with limited slips so you have the benefit of both rear tires' traction at all times, not just with the locker engaged under 25 mph.

with a motor that makes this much torque, it seems silly to be in 1 wheel peel mode most of the time, to then get neutered by the traction control. i am in the process of adding the torsen front diff to mine, since the 2010's had an open diff in the front, but i don't want to have to drive in 4x4 just to get off the line traction to dart across a busy street.

has any body else changed the rear diff?

I have debated a detroit locker for the rear. The issue with the later trucks (mine is a 2013) is that they have 35 spline axles and you can only get a detroit locker for 34 spline axles. I am pretty sure your truck would have the 34s, so it's easier to make this change.

I thought about getting the 34 spline axles to make this possible but they are very, very hard to find.

Separately, I have heard that some people have successfully wired the locker directly so that it can engage at any speed.

You can keep it engaged above 25 mph in off road mode even in 2wd. In my experience, a locked rear on a slippery surface like water or ice can spin you off the road. Also, the traction control makes the open different act like a limited slip. When it feels a wheel lose traction, the brake is applied to transfer power to the other wheel. The e- locker is one of my favorite features of the Rappy. My 2 cents.

New raptor owner here, so it is possible to have the rear locker engaged (all the time/any speed) by putting it in offroad mode and pulling the 4wd selector in the 2wd position??

Lots of clunks and pops unexpectedly. Plus the backlash built into the locker makes the drivetrain feel sloppy during on/off throttle. Unless you are off-roading on a weekly basis, and a locker is going to make or break you on the trail id say go selectable for sure!

Yes. Locker can be engaged at any speed in 2wd as long as you are in off road mode. Look ok eBay for the Raptor supplement that would have originally come with the truck, as I am assuming you don't have one... Also, the truck apps screen will explain this if memory serves me correctly.

You do have to be stopped to engage ORM tho. Without pressing the traction control button only shift points and throttle control will be affected...

Yes it's a separate little greeting-card sized supplemental that should live with the rest of the manuals in the nifty zipper case thing. I can't find shit online but have this one saved, can take a higher resolution pic of mine when I get home if you want:
