Its been a few years since I sold my Z06... but I had dual DMH cutouts and their switch (small round plastic button).

Does the switch toggle, like pushing up you open the valve and pushing down you close the valve?

Say you open the valve half way open, can you then close it, or does it have to open all the way first and then close?

Reason I ask, I had a brain fart and thought I could wire DMH cutout to one of the AUX switches...

Then another member pointed out that the AUX switch is a simple power on and off switch... so, once I hit the switch, the motor would turn to open the valve and then likely burn out with continuous power.

I thought that once the valve opened all the way and got loud, I'd just turn the AUX switch off... then to close, I thought once switched on again the valve would close.

But I guess the AUX switch won't work this way?

I don't have an electric cut out but from what I understand it needs to be a momentary switch so it doesn't burn the actuator motor like you said. I know others and myself have looked into running it off of one switch, but there doesn't look to be an easy/cheap solution. You could do it simply by using two different aux switches. One to open it, one to close it.

Now there's an idea!

In the future, I only plan to run some lights to the front on a light bar, and then mount some lights on the rear... so for my future plans, I really only need 2 more switches...

Yeah, if you can spare two switches its a simple way to go imo.

Ok,

So its a spring loaded switch. Meaning that you hold it in the open position for 3-5 seconds and its open all the way. You can open it up halfway, quarterway, 1/8 of the way, all depending on how long you hold the button for.

If there is a way to wire it to the AUX switch, its definietly involving a few more working pieces. Since the AUX are live with power when on and dead when off, your cutout will have to work based on the fact that when off it closes (Meaning it has power to close)!!!

Its really a pain in the ass to sit and **** around with the whole power situation. The button is small enough and can be placed in pretty much any place as long as there is enough wiring. Just put it in somewhere.

The thing is, due to the spring loaded mechanism you cant open the switch too much... If you start messing with it and then wiring it to the AUX, it will have to have a mechanical limiter at some stage in the process..

Mark- I understand your thinking because I was talking about doing the samething. But its not practical for this...

Say you wire it up to the AUX, when you turn it off (as in turn the aux off), you will actually be closing it.

If you turn it on and there in no limiter, you will open it too much or burn the motor out because it is trying to open more than it can. You cant just simply turn it off because that closes it remember?

xBX, don't know if you saw my other post... but Hennessey makes a control module for this application.

Their module will allow you to use the AUX switch to control the cutout. They're $199 from Hennessey. I have one on order now.

As soon as my DMH cut out gets here, I'm going to have the Y-Pipe welded in place of the Resonator and will wire this myself...

My plan is to take photos and make a photo-tutorial for this wiring.

Hennessey is supposed to have one of their techs email me some wiring instructions. The module isn't something they list on their website.

Anyway, I told them that once I install and post pics, that they might get some more orders :)

Ya I knew hennessey had an option but spending $600+ for a cutout was not worth it for me.

Good luck

Mark,

I just ordered a dmh as well and plan on doing the same thing- welding it to where the resonator currently is.

Keep us posted on what Hennessey has going, 199 is still quite a lot but may be worth it for some.
