Hey everyone,
My 2014 SE, Ruby Red with 40,000 miles is currently in the shop and it sounds like their having a tough time pinpointing the issue.
It started with starting my truck in the driveway, letting the truck run a few minutes and all of a sudden the screen goes blank.. just a black screen. No reverse camera, no radio.. nothing. Then, after about 2 minutes i can hear the radio and my phone will ring through the blue tooth, but thw screen is still blank. About a minute or two after that, the system reingages with "Sync" appearing on the screen and appears to load for a moment. Shortly after that a message appears saying "performing scheduled regular maintanace". This process takes a few minutes and then everything is normal on the screen, allowing me to perform standard actions.
A few times while driving, the screen and system will go completely blank and go through the same rebooting system. I also had the screen go blank, but not completely turn off while in reverse, not allowing me to utilize my back up camera.
Currently, the only thing modification I've made to my truck is a K&N Intake, besides that, the truck is stock (although a leveling kit, exhaust and bumper are on the list). Ford has called expressing that they tried performing an update with their iPad and other update tools but could not access the system and needed to wait to hear back from corporate this morning. Then they called and asked if I installed a chip or made any other modifications, which I didnt. Now I'm just waiting and wondering when I'll get my truck back.
As much as I love the truck, this isn't my first issue with the screen. Before I had to take her in because the system would freeze up, with my truck having to be turned off and started up again for the digital screen to work again. It took them three or four different instances to square it away and I became so frustrated I almost claimed lemon law. Shortly before that, they had to replace the steering callom (spelling) because I had a loud, distinct knocking when I would hit a slight bump on the road. It took them three seperate times tk figure that one out and In returning my vehicle the last time, they misaligned my front end... additionally, the scared my fabric in the cab, needing to replace it. Following the replacement of the fabric roofing material in the cab, if seems everything is a boot looser and doesn't seem to be as tight as before. Then driving down the road, my sunglass holder fell out of the roof, lol. After all this, the last few months have been uneventful and I love my truck. Now this.
After my past experiences, I thought it would be worth it to ask the forum if anyone has experienced this same issue... Any help would be much appreciated in case they come back with a half finished job or delay my truck getting back to me.
P.s. I wrote this post from my phone, so excuse grammar and spelling errors please, lol.
