Different brand shocks on front and rear axel ok?

Just picked up some brand new rear icon 3.0's for $1500 as my shocks need to be rebuilt and could not pass up the price.

Can I stick with new OEM fox shocks in the front with the ikons in the rear? Or possibly fox 3.0?

I don't off-road much but live in Utah so I am kind of tempted to just go all out as I got the rears so cheap!

It’s does not make a difference what brand you have on the front or rear as long as they are quality and functioning correctly. Save some money and install the Icons on the back and keep the Fox up front if they are good.

It does not make a difference brand wise on the shocks front and rear.

I think i does make a difference when you throw Icon into the mix. Icon's are considered regressive shocks, meaning they are stiffer off the top and soften as they get into the travel. King and Fox are the opposite. I'm not sure why Icon went this route but it obviously works, however i would want a softer ride initially and then stiffen up for harder hits or when i'm getting close to bottoming. Having Icons and something else may feel a little unbalanced, but thats all theory as i've only felt OEM shocks.


But like @Nex said, maybe on a prius it doesn't matter?
