Dealer Appraised My Raptor.

I stopped in at my Local Ford dealer to look at the new Explorer ST and was chatting with the sales people about the raptor values, they asked if I wanted a appraisal. So after they went out and looked at my Raptor and 10min later they gave me my appraisal. I tip my hat to the Gen 1 guys, their trucks will still be worth 45k 20 years from now. Lol
I get that this is trade in but still.

Sounds about right... just got a trade in offer on my 2019 of $58k ($77k MSRP).

Talked to owner of the dealership... he said he would list it at $65 and expect some haggle down. He wanted to make at least $4k on the sale plus fees of course.

LOL my Gen 1 is worth the same amount of money that it was appraised at when I was in a market for a Gen 2 in fall of 2017—crazy for a five year old vehicle.

I don't think what they appraised you is bad. Yes, it is lower than what you thought, but when dealerships are selling fully loaded 2019 and 2020 Raptors at/near invoice ($65kish) it affects the market.

Buy an Explorer ST and see how quick it depreciates

This is the reason for falling Gen2 values. A new 802a with limited options can be had in the low $60s! Along with 3-4 years of high volume production.

But do yourself a favor and sell it yourself and add $5k to that trade in value.

The Gen 1's may continue to decline in value for a little while, but then I think they may see an uptick. They're the first of what may turn out to be an iconic vehicle, maybe like the corvettes or mustangs. Early model year cars of those marks go for high dollar. The Raptor has the same chance, but ford needs to keep the ball rolling for a while.....

As to the value of the current model years, well...ford is cranking them out by the hundreds of thousands, so that will drive down values. I bought mine used, before the 17's came out. At the time, there were like 6 Raptors for sale in Washington state. I was told straight up that there would be no negotiation on price at all. I paid $52K for a 4 year old truck with 24K miles on it. It was (and still is), one of the top three best days of my life. The salesman is a long-time family friend too, still is. He wasn't bullshitting me.

Yea, the Tacoma and 4Runner TRD Pros do really well. I am actually looking to get a Tacoma TRD Pro now that they finally added a 10 way power front seat lol—technology that is only 20 years old. If you pick up a TRD Pro below MSRP, then you will lose very little in a year or two of driving. But it should be noted, Toyota limits the production of the TRD Pro models. Something I wish Ford would had done with the Raptors.

You think the trade-in is low? The dealer's goal is to get your truck for as little as possible so they can flip it for max profit. It's a three year old vehicle mostly the same as a new one, but you have 30K miles. You were looking at an Explorer...maybe you are trying to get out of the Raptor for whatever reason they don't know so they tossed you a number.

I have fond memories of purchase day too. Watching the Seahawks playing Atlanta with the sales team in their showroom and then introducing the truck to my daughter and her fiance by taking them "off-roading" in a snow-packed field behind the lot, and laughing our asses off as it tore through the snow like it wasn't even there. What an awesome day.

I'm looking for a preowned Tacoma for my kid... talk about holding value! At our budget, they all have 100k + miles too. Well loved and well used trucks.
