I'm installing a dash cam. It includes a Blackvue Power Magic Pro, which monitors battery voltage and cuts off the camera if the battery gets too low. It also has a timer that can be set to shut down the camera at selectable times. This will let me keep the truck parked over several days and leave the camera active without worrying about killing the battery. The camera will then activate on G-force.

I need to find both a constant positive, and an accessory power, in the cab fuse panel. Does anyone know which fuses I could use?

I thought I'd be able to figure it out pretty easily. However, as I was checking fuses with the ignition OFF, I found some of the fuses were hot due to the passenger being door open, and I also think some of them, while active when measuring, also turn off by themselves after certain periods of time. I need one that definitely stays on continuously.

Thanks for any help.

Tap into the mirror like most have done for radar detectors. There's a thread for it and tells you which wires. I'm running my GoPro as a dash cam as well off the mirror.

Thanks, Mark. But the mirror tap is NOT powered from the battery. It only powers up when the ignition is ON. I need a power connection that is always powered, even when the truck is off and parked. This allows the dash cam to monitor for intrusion and activate, even after parked for a few days.

This is what I'm connecting:

Delco . . .
Dome light?

Actually, that would time out.

How about headlight?

Edit # million: I thought one of the upfitter switches was designed to always be hot.

I did mine a while ago and took some pictures of the installation.

Here's the Thread with some suggestions:

Perfect, thanks! That's what I'm looking for. I'll have to check to see if those fuses are the same in Gen2. There are so many battery drain prevent features that it's a little difficult to verify that the "always on" is really always on. Timers, etc shut things off on us (for our own good, of course).

The green and brown wire should be hot at all times. You would have to check if it times out. I haven't checked it with a meter for any time delay.

Love my blackvue. i have both the front and rear cameras. a few weeks back I watched a video of a guy walking in front of my truck and out of view. 2 sec later his back standing dead center in the front of my truck and center frame of my blackvue.. he scratches his balls, shakes his head yes in a resounding "approval" and turns and walks away never to be seen again. gotta love it.

Thanks, Mark.
I ended up hooking into my fuse block, similar to your install. Found a spare fuse that I THINK is always powered. Seems to be working as expected.
