Ain't it the truth! I lived for two winters in Rock Island, Illinois, and both winters there was a rediculous collective learning curve in which the locals remembered what snow was, relearned that snow on the road means less traction, that less traction requires different driving habits, and then finally rememered how to drive in snow. During that 4 to 5 week relearning period, you would see tire tracks through people's front yards, read in the newspaper about how somebody lost it and drove into somebody's living room, and you'd see a LOT of banged up cars all of a sudden. It was astounding.
