Hi all,

At the weekend I went too fast down a steep dune and hit the bumper into the ground. Now, there are two things that I can see.

1) The bumper itself is bent. No problem I wanted to upgrade anyway.
2) There seems to be a gap between the headlights and the silver bit below that. Not sure if its always been like that but only noticed it now.

Firstly, is this JUST bumper damage or is the silver thing below the lights messed up too? I have nothing to compare it with!

Second, I'm looking to get an aftermarket bumper. Choices are limited here in the UAE but just wondering what I should be looking for. Im looking for something to give me added clearance and something stronger than the OEM. Also, if I get a metal bumper and do the same thing (hit the ground from a dune too fast), would a metal bumper cause damage to the actual frame rather than just bending like the OEM one did?

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks

Any aftermarket bumper will be stronger than the stock one. If you want more clearance as in better departure angle, then get one that requires cutting of the frame horns which essentially brings the bumper closer into the body/frame.

Curious though as I do have a bumper that I cut the frame horns, thus being the crumple zone of the front frame that if you have said bumper and hit hard, that force has to go now directly to the rigid frame, right? So can that now cause frame damage when before the OEM bumper and frame horns would of taken the damage?

The SVC Baja front bumper is a great choice and is very popular. Increases attack angle dramaticly, and can hold a 30" lightbar. And with the slim lines, it does not add hardly any length to your truck.
