CV boot protection/emergency kit?

I haven't seen much using the search function; but what do you guys think of CV boot protection? I live in an area of tall brush/bushes in the desert that have very rigid branches. I'm concerned about my CV boots. Has anyone bothered to shield their CV boots? Any companies making shields? Has anyone had a boot failure during off-road?

Does anyone carry emergency repair items for CV boots? And if so, what? I'd imagine a trail-CV boot replacement would ne quite a headache.
