Including the additional graphics and powder coating the wheels to match it which ran about 1K each it came in just under 12K.

The graphics were not actually applied to the kevlar as they would surely not stick, instead they copied them and simply sprayed them on with black paint after the tan was applied.

did I read that right? $4k to powder coat the wheels?

Truck looks great! I got very close to having my Gen 1 done at Starwood Motors in a similar color/material when I lived in DFW. Lol Texas hail storms would always have me paranoid!

Never heard of this company before, so I will check them out. If the material is similar to the other brands I have checked out, then your cabin should be significantly quieter now.

I am curious about the chemistry, Kevlar being a fiber. I don't know of anything similar. Are there sprayed fiberglass, dyneema, or PBO coatings?

I heard Kevlar paint will fade in few years from UV. I didn't even know of this kind of paint until this post, so looked up more info and see people also painted their truck or parts of it with Line-X.

@Dairyman9 , question - what made you go for Kevlar, and did you look at other options. I'm asking as i was originally going to do a wrap, but your post has got me thinking. thx

Isn't that the equivalent of burning your house down, because you're worried about forest fires ?

I was not giving every explanation for why I was interested in doing it. That was just one of my reasons. Moreover, I was simply creating small talk with the OP since he is from DFW too.

I don’t judge how others spend their money. Obviously the OP is stoked and got exactly what he wanted. From an outside perspective, we all make purchases that could be deemed a waste of money.

My Gen 2 was fully wrapped in XPEL to protect the paint while off-roading. Nevertheless, in certain driving conditions it can still be nerve wracking knowing that your $6-8k in film can be punctured and ripped. So having your truck sprayed in Line-X/Kevlar could be money better spent since you don’t have to worry about the film getting damaged.
