I have a buddy who does ceramic paint coat treatment to sports cars to prevent stone chips, road grime, weather, etc. from affecting the clear coat. For those who are unfamiliar, it is basically a liquid that you apply in stages and it bonds to the clear coat over the paint and then hardens.

Does anyone have experience using ceramic paint coatings and then hitting trails? My buddy says it would work to protect the paint from the dirt and brush, but I wanted to see if anyone here has done it to their trucks and has real world experience.

Thanks!

i don't have a lot of experience with coating painted parts but i have been doing quite a bit of cerakoting. its a ceramic coating used primarily on fire arms but i like that it goes on thin so you can spray bolt threads and other tight fit surfaces. So far its been very durable on some motocross bike parts i've done. they do make a clear coat that you can spray on pretty much any surface and after a few days its fully cured. i've done a few parts so far and they seem to be holding up just fine. its nice that the clear is an air cure as opposed to oven cure.
