When I took delivery of my truck there was a very strange looking metal key in one of the center console cup holders. It was long like a normal ignition key, but instead of a small hole at the end you grab on to to put on a key ring, it was wide open, like a backwards letter 'C'. I couldn't figure out what it was for so I set it aside.

This weekend while organizing some stuff inside the truck I noticed a lock for the flip open storage lid and had an ah-ha moment! I'm sure this is all in the manual somewhere, but I haven't got that far yet.

Now for the questions, since you can't put this key on a key ring, what do you guys do with it if you ever lock you center console? And is that the only use for this key? Maybe I'm missing something, but this doesn't feel very well thought out. Please enlighten me if there's something obvious I'm overlooking. Thanks!

Can you make a copy of it and just use the copy? Then you could put that on a key ring at least.

That is a valet or wallet key.. It's the same key that's inside the fobs if you need to access the truck if the battery is dead.
Ah... that makes sense. I thought I was missing something. Thanks! It was strange to me that it was just sitting in a cup holder.
