Anybody running a radio in their Raptor?

I'd like to have a radio for SHTF (assuming said SHTF doesn't involve any EMP's)...

For a CB (I could be wrong), I don't think you need an FCC license... but with a HAM radio, I know that you absolutely do need one...

So, who has a radio installed in their vehicle?

I'm leaning towards the HAM radio as it has more frequencies and capabilities... but I know nothing about them or the required antennas for running one on your vehicle.

Suggestions?

I have both. CB is good for freeway traffic jams. Worthless for off roading as we found out on the Raptor Run. I have a Ham Radio in my F350 because that is what we use for the open road racing. Yes, you are required to have the FCC license for HAM radios, but used intermittently like for the race, not an issue. The HAM radio license is easy to get now as they no longer require memorizing Morse Code anymore.

Do you have an opinion or recommendation for a handheld HAM Radio? Something that simply plugs into a cigarette lighter per say?

And as far as Antennas go, I think some of the handheld units come with an 8-12" antenna, but some also require an antenna mounted on the vehicle... I'm okay with mounting an antenna.... I'm not looking to talk to Europe or anything, just CONUS if that helps in recommending a radio.... basically, if the SHTF, living in GA, I'd like to be able to talk to folks in GA/TN/NC/SC and FLA.

Would something like this Kenwood be appropriate for me?

I installed a CB in my Raptor Friday night for my trip to Pismo this weekend to watch Huckfest. It worked great if we were all in the same general area but one of my buddies had a HAM radio also and he was able to pick up radio talk from the Huckfest competition all the way out at comp hill from our camp. Which was very far away! I am thinking about adding a HAM radio to my truck in the future.

Here are some pics of my quick install:
