CBR trans cooler install questions

I have added a CBR trans cooler in my bed cage and when I went to a local shop to get it plumbed in they quoted me $1,000. They said they need to weld AN fittings to the existing trans cooler plumbing (makes sense) but they said they also have to weld a **** in the trans pan for a temp sensor to activate the fan. Can I not have the cooler's fan controlled by the existing temp sensor in the trans?

Has anyone had this done and what did you pay?
