I would like to start off by saying, "I love this tuck!" Even so, it hasn't come without its share of problems. I first bought my blue flame Raptor with 11K miles on it from a dealer in Chicago. The vehicle upon inspection looked flawless and was even quoted by a mechanic as being so.
I departed from Chicago to go home to Denver when my check engine light came on. My local Ford dealer took it in and said the o2 sensors were improperly wired and repaired the problem.
I moved to Utah and noticed my steering wheel would shake when I braked at high speed. I was told by the Utah Ford dealer that my rotors were warped and Ford would warranty the rotors, I just had to pay for pads. I agreed and dropped my truck off.
Upon picking my truck up I noticed it had a serious, I mean serious knock coming from the depths of the engine. I was like whoa, I drove this thing here for brakes and now there is some serious issues to address with the engine? I couldn't believe what they were telling me. Actually I flipped out, cursed them and accused them of mishandling my truck. The only next option to fix the truck was 120 miles away so I let them diagnose the problem.
The diagnosis was a spun engine bearing, which mind you happened while in their possession. The crazy thing is that they were going to send me on my way with it knocking had I not ******* a fit on the spot. They called it a "fluke" but I call it abuse. Whatever the truth is, a field tech advised a new short block. I had 22K miles on the truck at that time.
The block came and was installed within a month and a half. Problem solved? Nope! Now I have an audible electrical arcing noise coming from the right lower portion of my engine I thought I could get it fixed later as I use this truck as my toy, family vehicle, and for my business. I don't have time for the ******** so I figured I would get it in when I could.
Driving on the highway my gauges started flipping out, moving back and forth and my tranny shifts from 6th to 2nd, to 3rd to 2nd to 6th. I mean its all over the place. I took it back to Ford they said I had some faulty spark plug wires in there, replaced the wires and did a "cold start" stating its fixed. I told them the problem occurs when both the engine and transmission are at running temperature but they assured me it was fixed.
Fixed? Nope same shit that same day. I got Ford customer care involved and we called the shop. His response is they have no idea whats happening, they thought they fixed it with their "best" techs and they are unable to diagnose where the arcing is coming from even though it is very audible. Now I have to return the truck for another who knows how long so a field tech can come out and try to figure out where it is coming from. I hope this dude knows whats up as I'm starting to lose faith here.
I love this truck, but making monthly trips to the shop has become tiresome. I really hope these problems don't continue beyond my warranty or I'm gonna be a screwed pooch. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance!
