He probably means the motor mount issue. My wife's '18 Escalade had to have the driver mount replaced at around 35k miles. The whole truck would shake at idle, the rubber in the mount breaks down and the motor is basically resting on the frame. I think they called it grounding out.

A shit load of K2 trucks developed vibrations starting usually @ speeds over 50 & were attributed to a number of different things- structurally truck was much more rigid but mounting point of running gear not so much. Slop in yolk/pinion, bad batch of torque converters, improperly/unbalanced drive shafts, motor mounts too im sure- seems it could be a single issue or combo of all of em or anything in between contributing. Well documented, GM knew- they made the trucks aesthetically pleasing & have nice V8s but they were a stop-gap measure leading up to this newer design & they made $$$$ built em in Mexico too...GM padding their wallets post financial crisis IMHO

I saw that truck at Smithtown when I was looking to buy new. Gave up 9n them when they would not budge from 5k over MSRP.
When was that? Maybe the current times softened them up a bit? Idk. Where did you end up going through?

I was there Dec thru Jan and ended up ordering truck from Ohio and picked it up in March.

I don't think so. Some techs may prefer this path as it gives them greater access to the engine but I doubt they are required to do so.

Correct. The Workshop Manual does not instruct the technician to remove the cab to perform this repair.

However, if the technician decides to lift the cab, there is a published procedure in the Workshop Manual. It’s relatively straightforward, just more time consuming.

What needs to be removed from the truck to perform this if the cab is NOT removed? I have an aftermarket FMIC, bumper etc. Is the dealership going to balk at this? Does the radiator need to be removed to do this? TIA.

can't speak for other service centers but I dropped in to see my truck after it had been fully torn down for inspection (warranty) and the cab was most certainly not removed lol

they did, however, manage to damage the IAT sensor tether on my aftermarket intake so I have a CEL for a faulty IAT sensor at the moment...replacement en route though

Just picked mine back up from the dealership where they confirmed it’s a phaser issue. Parts are on order so I’ll take it back when they get in.

Interesting side note. I know it’s been said that it can’t be intermittent but I have noticed at least twice in the past month that after sitting all night it did not make the noise.

I left it overnight at the dealer and they said when they started it they heard nothing. They said they’d keep it another night to check again. Sure enough, when they pulled it inside for the night and the next morning it was making the noise and they confirmed the issue. The advisor was also surprised by this.

Nothing external to the engine aside from the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) outlet pipe. Neither the radiator nor the CAC are removed. Dealer shouldn’t care since the bumper and aftermarket CAC should not interfere with the repair procedure.

Mine doesn't always make the startup noise - mostly but not always. Maybe it's like a broken clock that is right twice a day?
