I agree. I would like to see some hard numbers. Until then, it's just a WAG, and adding to the hysteria.


A few years ago, we owned a couple ecodiesel Rams, there was a guy on the forum that worked for Ram that actually pulled, and posted, the number of "replacement" engines available nationwide at any given time. Some people were spinning a main bearing and throwing rods, same hysteria. At least those numbers kinda sorta pointed toward some numerical evidence, maybe. Assuming each of those engines was going into a problem vehicle and not going into a boat or whatever.


If someone has access to the number of cam phaser "repair kits" available, and if they are specific to the Raptor, it would be interesting to see how many are making their way into these trucks vs how many Raptors are running around. Until then I don't believe anyone knows and is likely trying to vilify the engine, to make themselves feel better about not owning a "problem child."


I do feel bad for the people who have issues. If I had to do mine more than once, I would probably get into a new one. 31k, so far so good, and I don't EXPECT to have the problem.
