For sure if you know what to do and plan on doing it, it isn't too hard.

Was your truck financed or paid in full? I heard you need to provide complete sales info and proof of origin/ build certificate. I heard if it is financed it is hard to do it all but if you have the truck paid off its easier.

Mine is financed, dealer sent me the certificate of origin, and all the correct info and I just brought all that along with me to the DMV. They did a quick vin verification, and it probably took about an hour including waiting.

Awesome then you are the person to talk to haha. Sounds like you had an easy go of it! I seen some people have issues but I think it seems straight fwd as long as you do all the necessary steps. DMV is usually not very helpful lol

yeah, do have to agree that your DMV experience always hinges on who you get, but I found that they were pretty happy to take thousands of dollars that I owed in sales tax haha. yeah key thing is just make sure to have all the necessary footwork done in advance. I was dreading doing it, thinking i'd have to take multiple trips, but it only took an hour or less in the end.

mine was painless also, except for the 5 hours or so i had to wait at the dmv.

the dealer filled out the ca dmv paper work and mailed a check to my local dmv for the sales tax they collected. i got the truck weighed and smogged, went to the dmv, filled out the paperwork that the dealer sent in, basically stating when the truck was bought, when it first entered ca, if it was new, etc. i do not think my dealer sent proof or origin, maybe they did but i didn't know about it. the dmv will verify the vin, then you pay the rest of the sales tax if there is any as well as license fees. get your plates are you're free to go, mine is also financed so i had no issues registering it.

I had same experience. Bought in SD, shipped to CA. All you need to do is have the certificate of origin, get the truck weighed and smogged. That's it. There is no magic or witchcraft. My truck is financed also, and in my company's name. I did all my paperwork at AAA - super easy. Anyone who says otherwise just hasn't done it.

And to the person talking about a 49 state truck, they DON'T EXIST. Every single Raptor is 50 state certified.

Pain

You cant register a new financed car at AAA. Some people have done the outta state to CA deal and it sounds like a pain in the a-s-s. Lots of things you need to have and get done in order to get it titled in CA. Dealing with anything CA related is dumb but if you can get a deal on a truck outta state and you have the patience and time have at it.

It really wasn't bad at all, I had the CTO from the dealer over night'ed to me, drove the truck back from Vegas maybe 4 hours, next day I had it weighed and verified at DMV maybe 1 1/2 hours, took it for the smog less than a 1 hour and went back to DMV to register it the next day after receiving CTO maybe 3 hours tops! so total hours 9 1/2, took a short vacation and saved a tone of money $$$$$ Not Bad at All

Ok so the AAA at 3350 Harbor Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA 92626 in California wont register new out of state vehicles! That was my first stop!

They must be on the short bus... my business partner did his as well at a AAA in Rancho Cucamonga, also no issue.
