Then flyover country, yes, but there are plenty of volume dealers outside of the coasts. In Houston anyway, a few dealers that located themselves just outside of high population areas where the land and taxes are cheaper, then advertise to pull people in (or out in this case). Ron Carter and Tomball come to mine. I do think they have sort of switched gears though and are not that much of a bargin, particularly on the vehicles in short supply, then they used to be...but still thrive on the reputation.

More in Cali, yes, but more per dealer? And there are both fixed costs and per vehicle costs to account for. Only the fixed costs get amortized.

Not sure of the question, I was saying cali dealers sell higher volumes and that greatly covers their increased costs. You have dealer that had 20 allocations where my local got one.

I buy much less from Amazon, but still cave every now and then. In many cases, price difference from their and elsewhere that I am torn between 'cheap chinese' and feeling like I'm being taken advantage of.

Too much of the name-brand stuff on Amazon is counterfeit and Amazon doesn't seem motivated to weed it out. The reviews are polluted with paid reviewers. So I save 10-20% on "name brand" stuff only to end up with cheap Chinese crap and the local guys get fùcked over? I'll pay the extra to keep the money onshore. Sometimes I'll pay a lot extra. I bought a pellet smoker early this year. It cost four times what the Chînk-a-delic Traeger or Green Mountain does, but it was make in Kansas and it's bombproof. Talk about quality. I'm over the price. It's like the Raptor, I smile every time I look at it.

Agreed on that. Amazon usually can't beat price on name brand stuff anyway due to manufacturer rules. My recent purchase was a set of 4 caster wheels for $20. It's about $8 per caster for slight lower load capacity at Home Depot...that they may or may not have in stock.

I would do it separate if you can. I found my truck in KC, I live in SoCal. near MSRP, and 1500 for shipping. Then found a local dealer where I traded in my Gen1 who gave me a good cash deal on the old rig. In the end I likely ended up net 15-20k positive if I were to do it all local.

what local dealer in SoCal? I'm looking to unload my Gen1. How much did you get for it? miles/condition?
