I get it I have dealt with customers like you in the past.. Looking to stick someone else with the bill, you ran up... Step it up man and take responsibility for yourself, its your window and you broke it.. Your the kind of person that gets a chip in the windshield or a tiny scratch in your paint and want to blame the world for it so you don't have to pay..... Sometimes its hard to be a man and say "its my fault"... Step it up and stop looking to blame it on the shop owner......

Haha, you're F.O.S IcePrick. Your mind is fast and inaccurate at judging people. I've already said twice that I don't think they're responsible. In fact, I told the owner yesterday I don't think they're responsible b/c it was already chipped when I brought it in. I did refute the notion "that even windshield wipers would've caused it" and did show some disappointment that nobody thought it was suceptible to cracking when heat is applied on a chilly day. I was not rude or aggressive and we simply agreed to another discussion on Monday.

I agree that the crack would've propagated this winter anyway and/or the chip should've been repaired prior to tinting. All I'm saying is that if several forum members knew I was asking for trouble don't you think that people who do this everyday for a living should've known and possibly mentioned something just to cover their ass if nothing else? Also, they ****** up my rearview mirror, there is a sizable scratch on the passenger side window tint, and appear to have almost applied tint on a dirty window. When all this is taken into account I question the overall competence level of the staff and this is the reason why many of you do your own work when practical.

So, for last time, I do not think the shop is responsible for my broken windshield. I posted on the forum to get an idea of what others' think and I have demonstrated respect for your opinions and believe you are correct.

The shop owner called me today and opened the conversation by basically saying they're sorry for shit happening. They have an OEM windshield ready for replacement, quoted a low number and would like to split the windshield cost and complete the tint. I felt bad right away and said I've thought about it and think i am due full. Owner said decision will not change. Also said don't worry about scratched side tint, their work is covered.

I will give them enough work to more than compensate for the split cost.

On a side note I learned about collision vs. comprehensive insurance and for a small cost lowered my comprehensive deductible from $500. Thank you Noah!

I think Icecobra is speaking from the viewpoint of a small business owner(correct me if I'm wrong "Iceprick" LOL). With a small business, even one job can make or break you. Having to replace it repair something that wasn't your fault but having to do it to keep the customer happy must suck balls. But word of mouth. I work for Kaiser hospital. One thing they stress is that when things go the way their supposed to, nobody has anything to say. But when something goes bad, they tell 8 different people. So Iceprick, errrrr, Icecobra is right. But so are you. If you manned up as said it was like that already then it is what it is.

And just for the record, Iceprick(that's our new name!!) did some work for me. The communication was easy and thorough. And I couldn't have asked for a better outcome. So when he speaks about business, it's best you listen.

That's a ****** position for a business to be in, especially a small business where each job has a bigger impact. I've re-read this entire post and can see why an owner might be like WTF!? Getting blamed and bad mouthed by some MFer for some shit that was already broke, that would **** me off too. ***

My tire had a nail in it, took it to a shop to get fixed.
They pulled the nail out, the tire went flat.
They told me I had to pay to get it fixed WTF is that about.

So now how to officially change your name... Iceprick has a nice ring to it... I am no prize but think it is very important to be responsible for ones self. My son as he was growing up from time to time asked what should I be when I grow up dad? My best and only answer I gave him was be "Honest"... I own several small business and in the grand scheme of things I work with humans that make mistakes. I don't need to get blamed for stuff we did not do, we do enough stuff wrong at times on our own. Comes from working with people, they make mistakes.. I am glad the shop owner took care of things for you. A nice tip is always appreciated.... HINT HINT.... I like to think that FRF members as family and hope they act accordingly. I hope that owning a Raptor makes you want to hold yourself to a higher standard and want people to think there goes a Raptor and the owners lucky to have one and they are great people that own them... Most every Raptor owner I run in to seems to be a fun warm hearted person.. In my corner of the world anyway. I like to think of or family as willing to help each other and point out when we make mistakes... But that's me.. And Jackrook thanks for the kind words I try hard to make FRF members happy...

That's a bummer, I know my insurance has full glass and zero deductible on it which is nice.
