This is not the first one reported here.

I had the same issue in April while on a long trip from Big Bend to Dallas. Lost most power and slowed to a crawl. Had to drive on the shoulder at 35-40mph until I reached a town big enough to have a decent sized Ford dealership. High Pressure pump had one bolt missing, one sheared off and one very loose. Left the car with them and came back a week later to pick it up. 2 weeks later happened again north of Fort Worth. Same scenario. No idea how that was possible. Was repaired once again, along with the cam phase adjusters.

I've been driving it with no issues for 4K miles now.

Fingers crossed.

Have not seen much of this, but another poster had something like this happen in the last few days here.

The Gen 1 Ecoboost HPFP had torque to yield bolts. Probably the same on the Gen 2. If you re-use TTY bolts, the brake when tightened since they have yielded already.

This makes total sense. I had the truck in for all the recalls just before my trip and one had to do with the pump. I'll bet the tech loosen and tightened the same bolts.

Thanks!

Update, my Raptor is STILL in the garage awaiting to be fixed. Ford is putting new fuel pump and head on this. Internals got all messed up when the pump seized. Supposedly I’ll have the truck back next week. What a disaster this has been.

Down 1 month without the truck. They could have dropped a new engine in by now. Ridiculous.

My 2018 is back at Ford for the 5th time for this issue. First and second time they didn't find anything, 3rd time they thought the bolts were loose, 4th time they replaced the fuel pump. Not sure what the action plan is yet, but shop is backed up and not sure when they can even get to it. First happened around 7800 miles, I have little over 18000 now.

Thank you. I will DEFINITELY be coming back. Love the area. We do a ride there at least once a year. We were supposed to be coming down in November but the event got cancelled. Might still try and get down there on our own.
