So Ive been looking at the retrax power one covers... but not sure if these covers would stay in place when off roading..

Anyone have any experience with these covers and off-roading?

I offroad in Colorado with my Bakflip F1 all the time. I even did the Texas Raptor Run with it on and it never once had a problem. That said, I'll probably be taking it off for the longer offroad trips from now on given the bedrack that's coming for those trips.

Don't know about yours specifically, I have seen several break while off roading.

A little dab of loctite on the clamps helps.

At TRR I did a little experiment.

I used loctite on 3 of the clamps and the other 3 just wrench tight. The 3 with loctite were still good, the wrench tight ones 2 had came loose, and one fell off.

I had mine on at the TRR. It's a Extang solid fold. It stayed in place, but do to the heat and jumps, I did notice that the some of the rubber mounting pads shifted. Looks like the glue let loose. But the whole thing stayed in place.

I would not recommend the RetraxOne or PowerTrax if you're going off road. I don't think the Lexan material is strong enough. You may want to consider an aluminum cover such as the RetraxPro or Truck Covers USA.

I've ran pretty hard with my BakFlip and never had issues. I do remember seeing a video of a guy's tonneau style cover crashing through his back window a while back, but for the most part I haven't heard any complaints.

My Bakflip has done well over the last 8 months, including some fairly hard hits this past weekend that caused issues. One issue I have experienced with it is that after a hard day of wheeling, it works itself up to impact the back of cab, and needs to be moved back down.

Phy are you buying a vendors' rack, or having one done locally? If its local Id be interested in seeing it.

thread locker. basically its a liquid the you put on the bolt (or nut) and when you tighten it down you let it set for about 20 minutes. after that, it becomes kind of like a glue. it will not allow the bolt or nut to come loose.
