Guys,
I am working with Morrie on getting the right bed cover for my needs. I really like the features of several of the Bak bed covers and narrowed my choices down to three--F1, Fibermax, or Roll X.

I have read many of the threads on this forum (search feature is awesome) about these covers and your input has helped me narrow my choices. One item that I did not see mentioned much was which of these bed covers hold up best in off-road conditions. Does anyone have experience with the Roll X tracks shifting after driving in tough conditions? Do the other covers become off-center and require adjustment after a day off the pavement?

It just seems that the beds of pickups flex a lot--especially off-road. How will this affect these covers?

Thanks

I just got back for TRR. And this is probably the hardest thing any street legal Raptor will go thought, and my F1 needed less adjustment then my alignment! I was completely impressed at how rugged it is.

I have beat the absolute dog shit out of my truck with my now 2 yr old F1 installed with no adverse affects. I think I had to slide it back once and re-torque the front bolts.

My Bakflip F1 has also survived TRR (two years) and Snoball500.. The only damage on it was caused by two roof mounted light bars falling on it.. Causing a couple dents and scratches..

My backflip survived the pounding i gave it at TRR as well as the pounding it got from a yeti cooler and a tote filled with tools breaking loose from the two straps that were holding them down. the underside has some dents but they dont show up on the outside and the backflip never opened up during that run so everything stayed inside the bed of the truck. I cant say the same for other types of covers, there were a few busted and way misaligned covers the first day

Only been out once since I got my Roll-x. LOVE the cover but the latches kept popping open and did it about 5 times. I think I needed to adjust the latch strength and need to give it some attention before I go out again. Or I may just roll it up when I get out there.

Keep in mind "off-roading" means a lot of things to a lot of people. What kind of off-roading? If you are planning to just beat the **** out of your truck, the $800 cover will probably be the smallest of your issues.

If you are talking about run of the mill low to medium speed crawling and 4WD roads, I can attest the RollX works fine. I don't beat the snot out of things (I have to make them last) but I do plan to run some of the higher pass roads in Colorado this Summer/Fall, and expect the RollX to perform well.

I have an F1 and love it. It has done a great job over the last 2 years with some major off-roading. I posted a video of one of my trips to Pismo Dunes and you can see the F1 on the back of the truck when I'm going high speeds and jumps. I did have a screw fallout once but I put it back in. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comments guys--this is exactly the information I was looking for.

I am in-line with Bkiggins as far as my type of off-road. Some higher speed stuff from time to time on the beach--so not beating the **** out of the truck or the cover. Just wanted to get feed back if one style of cover performed better than the others. So far...the F1 seems the most reliable.
