Have the original battery in my 2013 Screw. Subscribed to this thread over a yr ago figuring some day I'm gonna need one. I used the Platinum in everything for decades and loved them. Received an update email the other day and thought I better watch this thing a little closer. Here in NJ, the temp dropped like 35 to 40 degrees and the truck turned a little slower yesterday morning. I took that and the email as a sign and went on line this am. I ordered an Odyssey from 4WheelParts just now. They said they have plenty, and it will be here in two days.

Interested in your HF setup procedures .....

If I needed one now I would go this way....
I have had many optimas now red and yellow and the ones of late, are not as good as the older ones I have had. seem to run down quicker and have less static voltage when sitting, not charging.
my $.02

IC-706MlKll installed, Spot connect, HF, VHF& UHF antenna installed, duplexer, PCI intercom with street legal head phones and helmets

I am very interested in your experience in kitting your F-150 for tri-band communications.

What electrical bonding design did you employ frame and chassis, and what antennas are in use on your truck? What mounting solutions did you use?

Specifically interested in whether you are operating on 40 and 75 meters mobile? Do you just rag-chew, or run any Nets mobile?

On the battery power supply side, which model did you use?

And do share on the street legal headphones. I was considering attempting to 'Bluetooth' as a hands-free option, most likely on a Yaesu FT 891.

Thanks and regards,

SVG

I am using a 5/8 wave for 2 meters, 1/4 wave for 440. I just have a cb whip for 10 meters. The street legal head set just has one head phone **** so is legal. Battery power direct from battery using RG 8 coax with center conductor positive. if you wire:biggrin: into the truck speakers you need a floating ground.

Hey, Concern your issue with the professional car mechanic he will give you the right way. But I think replacement is the better option to avoid issues in the future. Thanks

It's NOT 100% USA made!!! If any of it even is??? Very little info available.

And Sears stopped making Platinums years ago. Plus the so called new Gold that replaced the Platinum is crap!

Odyssey is the way you want to go!
