Does anyone who has one of these know how easy it is to remove if I needed to haul a 4 wheeler. I was curious about the back piece up against the rear windows.

It comes off in about 5 minutes if you drink a beer while doing it. If no beer, then I can have mine off in about 2 minutes if I hustle.

^ What he said.

It takes longer to hoist my butt into the bed then it does actually taking the cover off.

Get a Jeep

QUOTE=LSURaptor;66955]Pretty damned quick. I think I'll go with a roll up soft top this time though.[/QUOTE]

Roll up soft top is like driving a rag top Jeep! Lots of flappin noise to deal with. Yeah at first their tight but over time they get loose and flap like a flag or old Jeep.:yucky:[

Hmm. Even the ones with auto tension and velcro on the sides?

What it boils down to is I'm a cheap bastard and don't really want to spend $700 on another bakflip. $350 or so will buy a nice low profile roll up and I can put the rest towards a bed rug.

Thats not the case at all, unless you bought some POS soft cover. I've got a soft cover on my '85 work truck (Access Roll-up tollbox edition) and it's never flapped nor made a sound whatsoever, and it's now 8 going on 9 years old. That one is the velcro style. My '04 Lightning had the OEM soft tonneau with the rubber seal type syle and that never made a sound, and my buddy has a '03 L with the snap type style and that never makes a sound either.

The soft cover should be dead quiet, unless you remove all the support bars they come with, and probably undo a portion of it so it flaps. Long story short, the only way it would make noise is if you try and make it happen.

Look at the bigger picture though. It's not $700 for a bakflip vs. $0. yeah its twice the cost of a soft cover, but it's still 1/2 the price of a hard fiberglass tonneau that isn't nearly as versatile. It's only $350 more than a soft one in comparison to a $50k truck, my plan is getting the bak-flip! I'll scrounge a bit longer for the bedrug! lol

Well, I figure I could always sell the soft cover if I changed my mind and recoup some of the costs... Ideally I'd find a used Bakflip but that's a slim chance.

you'd still take a hit on the soft cover selling used, especially shipping with the long rails. Just put it towards the bakflip!

If you do get a soft one, I love the access rollup on my '85. It's held up great for being outdoors for so many years. The velcro still holds, the support bars will never fail like other style tonneau support bars, and they roll up with the cover as you open it, and it has tension adjusters so it won't get loose over time.
